Had the corned beef hash with 2 eggs (once over easy). It was excellent. Staff are friendly and nice, food a bit slow in coming out (looks like there's only 1 cook). Decor is interesting and has character. Will definitely go back.

Hearty home-style food Prompt, friendly service Great, cozy space Ed's Roost - assuming I am not lazily eating mango while overlooking the sea in Trinidad when I retire, then this is the type of breakfast place I do hope to frequent when I retire. The space feels like home, the straightforward, well-executed food tastes great, the service is with a smile, many people know each other here and welcome each other heartily, and even those of us less regular visitors will feel in on that vibe. I don't ask for much more than that. Maybe a clearer indication of being cash-only, but it's a very minor quibble. As an aside, I'll be unable to weigh in on the Ed's/Jigger's debate, as, sadly, Jigger's appears to owe Centreville Bank more money than it takes to keep the doors open. As such, I'll mourn my missed opportunity, but remain happy to know Ed's. I think you will, too.

Pucker Up Matt - This is good, but it is not as good a Jiggers, and the folks at Ed's did not move and set up shop somewhere else. And yes, I have been to both on multiple occasions. If you are looking for a spot to grab breakfast in East Greenwich, this is a great place to go. Ed's Roost is a great funky little place and the staff was very friendly. I am not too concerned about the signage nor the age of the menus. All of that being said, I think we need to keep some perspective. 5 stars, it is as good as it gets? Really? I give this place 4 stars because I am a fan. I liked the hash but it was really more potato than corned beef. The corned beef chunks are large as well, and if you get it crispy, it is really tasty. I think the corned beef, as the name would intimate, should be the star and not supporting role. The reality is that it was good, but ranks behind several other places. Also, I assume if it is 5 stars and you live in Barrington, you are in your car making the trip; which I doubt. I do travel to Spoonem's in north Cranston, because they are that good, and the hash is better than Ed's. I don't want this to sound like a downer to Ed's because they are more than worth your patronage. It is local and should be supported. It is friendly and the staff is very nice. It is heads and shoulders better than "T's". So yes, I am a fan.

I've hesitated to write this review as I don't want to give away my FAVORITE place to have breakfast! Everything is fresh and delicious. The homemade corned beef hash is definitely something to write home about, omelettes are light and fluffy, and my coffee is always full. The decor reminds me of being at a diner in New Hampshire and the waitstaff is top notch, always friendly!!

In a nutshell: the corned beef hash here cannot be overrated. In case anyone is insane enough to doubt this, go to any other breakfast place, 95% of which serve that awful canned corned beef trash and try to eat that vile over-salted concoction. Ed's CBH is like a master class taught by Itzhak Perlman. Also, I've never ordered it "extra crispy," but as it is it has a wonderful caramelization, if you will. In fact, I would suggest to just order it without any fancy additional directions. Sure, the decor is a little dated but that is part of the charm. I hear McDonald's and Denny's have a pretty snazzy modern look... Put this place on your culinary bucket list for the CBH. Recommendations: (1) Corned beef hash - with eggs sunny side up and pumpernickel. (2) coffee - not bad, served in chunky mugs.

A bit overrated. I did as my yelper's suggested and brought my husband's parents and ordered the corned beef hash extra crispy. Folding charis and round picnic tables are a throw back to a basement church pot-luck. It is cheap, but so is the food quality. Ironic signs from 2008 still hang which indicate that menu items are .50 cents more then listed...half a penny only? Talk about busy - no time in the last three years to print up new menues?

As I look at some of the other reviews this place has gotten that are less than 5 stars I can't help but laugh. I failed to notice any of the amenities, signage etc. being sub-par as I'm generally too busy thanking the waitress for topping up my coffee, reading the ProJo and having a breakfast like no other. If you can find a better breakfast in E. Greenwich I'll kiss your ass. Disclaimer: If you do find a better breakfast that means that the good people of Ed's Roost have gone and set up shop somewhere else and the kissing promise is null/void.

Ed's Roost is a good breakfast joint. Not the best ever, but good. We stopped in on a Sunday Morning, and were able to find seats at the counter. Our waitress was very nice, came over right away and was very attentive to us. It is average breakfast food, made well and filling. I had an omelet that was LARGE. Egg Beaters are free of charge! That is basically unheard of and awesome. My main squeeze had french toast. He said it was tasty, but it was COVERED in cinnamon sugar, so I expected nothing less.

Went to Ed's Roost this Sunday for breakfast with my girlfriend. It was packed out as usual for any East Greenwich eatery on a Sunday, Luckily we managed to get the last table. Service was good and reasonably friendly. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette and my girlfriend ordered a cheese omelette with peppers. Food was a bit slow to arrive. However it was quite tasty, especially the homefries. Wouldn't recommend ordering peppers for your omelette as they were sliced in size for a kebab rather than an omelette. Overall a decent experience except for one massive turn off. One of the workers walked through the busy dining room with a bag of trash out the front door.

I am not a "going out to breakfast" person. How much can you do with eggs or pancakes? HOWEVER, I highly recommend the homemade hash browns ask for them extra crispy. Now for the good stuff, CORNED BEEF HASH. NOT from a can! homemade with actual slices of delicious corned beef, again you should ask for it extra crispy. It is on Main street in EG. A hole in the wall, decorated with antiques. I defy you to find a better corned beef hash! My breakfast companion thought his omlet could have used more cheese, (so next time he will have to ask for it) I am not an omlet person, again eggs are eggs I go for the "extra" touches, homemade delcious Hash and hash browns!

A go-to breakfast place for me and my dad. He loves the corned beef hash, I love the oatmeal and eggs. Hot, fresh coffee too. It's a very laid back place.

I'm giving this 5 stars because I think their corned beef hash is amazing! Their homefries and eggs are pretty average... but I would definitely go back for the corned beef hash!

Cute place ate here last week for first time. Pros: Great food and cheaper then Jiggers Locally owned feeling and friendly Cute place Great hash! Cons: Cash only Ham was good but not a Jiggers pit ham!

Been back a few more times again, including this morning and I tell you this place is consistently Great! My Wife really likes her over medium eggs and they have been cooked perfectly each time. I had the hash again and it still comes out perfect! Our server today was dressed up for the Christmas season and was attentive as is always the case. A couple of candy canes and peppermint LifeSavers left with the bill and an offer for some home-made delicacies (which we declined as we were full) really deserved Ed's Roost to be bumped up a star. Our favorite place for Breakfast!

This place was very busy this morning and we were lucky to get a seat. It took three rounds of coffee to get our food (which was almost an hour). The wait for food was seriously insane and I was ready to write a lousy review but the food was extremely good. I had a breakfast sandwich with fried egg, sausage and cheese on an english muffin with a side of home fries. I've gotten this elsewhere and have been disappointed but this place rocked! My mom got bacon with her mean and it was really good (crispy and a lot of flavor). I will return again but try to come at a time that is not so crowded.

No other way to put it than slow as molasses. Usual EG breakfast spot was packed so decided to try this place. Waited several minutes to be acknowledged which was awkward as we stood in between all of the tables. Once we were seated it was another 45 minutes to wait for our breakfast. Went with my typical eggs, toast and bacon. The food is "meh" decent but nothing to knock your socks off. I will try other Main St breakfast spots before considering coming back.

Thought we'd try a new little breakfast place. Took our seats, were greeted, ordered coffee. Got the coffee but no cream on the table. Asked another waitress for cream. Great. We're drinking our bland coffee but still haven't put an order in. Other guests have been seated and ordered and we can hear the 2 waitresses discussing the fact that we were forgotten. After a very slight apology, they take our order. The food came in a decent amount of time, but was disappointing. The home fries tasted weird almost like dishwater. The rest of the food was very bland. Lots of salt needed.

Like Nick S stated in his review, food was fast and good. Price is another good selling point to come here. The only reason why I'm giving it a 4 instead of 5 is because they don't accept credit cards.

I went to Ed's Roost for a late breakfast. The menu has a lot of options and will surely satisfy whatever your desire is for breakfast or lunch. The atmosphere is casual and the decor would be described as rustic. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. The reason it gets four stars instead of five is because they do not take credit cards. This fact turned me off...what restaurant doesn't take credit cards in 2015? With today's technology (I.e square) there's just no excuse for not accepting cards. It's an inconvenience without good reason. Other than this, I recommend Ed's Roost for breakfast or lunch.
